About Dr. Macari

Daniel Macari is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), counselor, educator, and mentor who works from a person-centered and humanistic perspective. With a Master’s degree in Social Work and a PhD in Counselor Education, he has spent many years supporting individuals as they navigate life transitions, identity questions, and periods of change. He values collaboration, respect, and the role of a supportive relationship in the counseling process.

Dan’s approach emphasizes meeting clients where they are and understanding the broader context of their lives. He draws from evidence-informed practices including Internal Family Systems, developmental perspectives, and strengths-based approaches, with attention to empathy, authenticity, and thoughtful reflection. His work is collaborative and paced, allowing space for both practical concerns and deeper patterns that shape experience.

Alongside his clinical work, Dan has an extensive background in higher education as a professor and mentor in counseling and student development, working with diverse populations including international students and emerging professionals. Outside of work, he enjoys travel and food, and values ongoing learning and meaningful conversation.
